Human Resources Business Partner Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Leads and manages human resources activities for assigned location(s) in alignment with company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements. Administers Human Resources policies and procedures for the site. Implements and maintains practices and objectives which provide a positive employer-employee relationship, promotes a high level of employee morale and protects the interest of the organization. Responsible for the following areas: recruitment and staffing, employee relations, wage and salary administration, onboarding and training, and employee services. Closely collaborates and partners with all functional organizations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Continuously monitors and recommends new or revised policies and practices in all areas of human resources management.
  2. Assists managers in defining position requirements and potential sources of applicants through advertising or search agency selection and supervises recruiting campaigns. Conducts recruitment effort for exempt and non-exempt employees involved in the Operations of the company. Ensures that all employment actions are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Determines and recommends a balanced employee relations program. Provides advice and counsel to managers in handling difficult and sensitive employee relations issues. Reviews cases of serious violations of company rules governing employee conduct and recommends actions appropriate for conflict resolution, including disciplinary actions.
  4. Monitors career pathing program. Works with Managers to verify employees are trained in their work areas including processes, procedures, rules, and regulations. Manages employee performance evaluation program.
  5. Promotes the opportunity for a formal discussion by employees and their supervisors to review overall work performance, objectives, and career development.
  6. Assists with developing and monitoring the company’s compensation program by insuring current and accurate job descriptions, conducting job analysis and salary surveys for labor grade classifications. Ensures pay increases and salary offers are within the budget.
  7. Participates on the site safety team as an advisor ensuring the work they perform is in compliance with legislated requirements, such as OSHA/Cal-OSHA and with governmental agencies such as the EPA. Works with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Ensures that the proper person responsible for the various areas in safety have properly trained all employees affected by that area.
  8. Assists with local administration of the Company’s benefit programs.
  9. Evaluates results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement of efficiency of department and services performed. Prepares periodic reports to Executive Management, as necessary or requested.
  10. Represents the company and its interests at various professional, industry, and community associations to further the company’s name in the community or its positive relationship within the industry.

Technical Competencies: 

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration and minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Human Resources in positions of progressive responsibility, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of various legal requirements (state and federal labor laws, OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Previous support of manufacturing organizations highly desirable.
  • Change leader experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Budgeting – manages and prepares budgets.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong employee relations skills.
  • Computer proficiency; Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Project management – manages multiple, complex projects.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Bilingual - fluent in both English and Spanish.
  • Proven record of Accountability and Ownership.
  • Proven record of being a champion of Culture.

  

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. 
  • Computer use.
  • Walk up/down one flight of stairs.
