Technical Writer I

JOB SUMMARY:

Creates, researches, compiles and formats technical data for publication in printed and electronic media.  Assembles technical information to be used for product catalogs, new product introduction and support, application guidelines, training, distributor communications and sales support collateral.  Extracts data from engineering drawings, reports and specifications and writes text in a format and style specified by Marketing, Product Management, Engineering and other departments within the Company.  Consults with Product Development and other technical personnel to develop specific information required as a critical component of the technical communications process.  Responsible for the proper sequencing, prioritization and clarity of technical information included in printed and electronic pieces, including training, website pages and other online product information tools.  Responsible for providing technical data to the Company’s distributors, utilizing format and style as specified by the requestor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for creating technical product information and specifications that accurately represent the product and meets the expectation of the product manager. This includes managing not only content creation, but the review process.
  2. Ensures content reflects the appropriate style, grammar and syntax required for technical communication pieces. Responsible for the selection of drawings, graphics, photographs and other images to be incorporated into technical manuals, product brochures, promotional materials and online pages.
  3. Interfaces with engineering, product development, marketing and sales groups to develop technical information, text, specifications and other data relating to the introduction, explanation, specification and application of the Company’s products.
  4. Researches engineering information such as engineering drawings, design reports, test data, and field evaluations.  Converts information into formatted text and specifications.
  5. Responsible for the creation of technical product informati for marketing outlets such as print, website, electronic catalogs, mobile applications and other electronic formats.
  6. Works closely with other Marketing Staff in the development of sales, marketing and product training presentations and meeting materials to support sales efforts including training, product launches, product applications, customer presentations, lead and demand generation efforts.
  7. Serves as the key supplier of technical information to the Marketing, Sales and Customer Service departments, distributors, vendors, outside product catalog publishers, online catalog services and trade magazines.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Obtains “raw” technical information from Engineering and Product Development and converts it to readable, cohesive and formatted text.
  2. Serves as liaison between the sustaining engineering and marketing organizations. Coordinates marketing activities to update materials in response to product updates and changes (Engineering Change Orders), evaluate the impact of the change on marketing materials and message. Conduct a weekly meeting to inform marketing staff of changes, and coordinate the response.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Education or B.A. degree in Communications, Marketing, English Literature or similar curriculum or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years minimum experience in technical writing preferred.  Requires experience within a manufacturing-based organization. Experience in/understanding of communications industry preferred.  Rack, cabinet, power and cable pathway product application knowledge highly desirable.
  • Must have strong verbal and new media communication skills.
  • Must be able to convey technical information and provide innovative ideas via the written word.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and reports; visualize, describe and explain complex component assemblies and applications. Knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD software and engineering document structure is a plus.
  • Marketing publication experience; previous technical design experience with knowledge of document structure and training development.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with a strong track record of success in sourcing information and taking projects from concept to completion.
  • Must be creative, flexible and possess the ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • Works independently under strict deadlines.

Press Brake Operator

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs functions to independently set up and operate press brake machinery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates sheet metal equipment to form sheet metal products to Engineering drawings and specifications.
  2. Under minimal supervision, programs, sets up and operates press brake including changing tooling.
  3. Inspects and maintains workplace and equipment for compliance with safety requirements. Corrects any safety issue prior to performing operations.
  4. Inspects parts per applicable procedures. Resolves quality and mechanical problems, making minor repairs and equipment adjustments, as needed.
  5. Works from blueprints, schedules and specifications.
 

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Continuously maintains a clean work area including the cleanup and disposal of trash and production scrap. Assist in cleaning common areas.
  2. Performs other related duties, as assigned by management.

CNC Programmer/Machinist - 2nd Shift

JOB SUMMARY:

Develops and modifies CNC computer programs required to produce metal parts on machine equipment, such as the Haas and Fadal machine centers.  Operates machine to produce tools, jigs, fixtures and production parts.  Fully utilizes machine’s capabilities to maximize material utilization and productivity.  Works with Manufacturing Engineering to find the best way of manufacturing product.  Responsible for meeting safety, quality and productivity expectations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Under minimal supervision, programs, sets up and operates machine centers, such as the Haas and Fadal, to produce parts to engineering drawings and specifications, including loading/unloading material and changing tooling.
  2. Inspects and maintains equipment for compliance with safety requirements.  Corrects any safety issues prior to performing operations.  When operating the machine, monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunction.
  3. Prioritizes production runs to ensure that customer orders are completed in a timely manner, while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
  4. Sharpens tooling, as required, to ensure optimum machine performance.  Maintains machine and tooling.
  5. Inspects manufactured parts per work in process inspection procedure and ensures they meet engineering specifications.  Resolves quality and mechanical problems, making minor repairs and equipment adjustments, as needed.
  6. Performs math calculations, as needed, to produce parts and to calculate feeds and speeds.
  7. Works in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering to specify/design/build fixtures to reduce set-up time/part run time.
  8. Uses hand tools of the trade.
  9. Requisitions raw material from the warehouse.  Inspects material for shipping damage and/or supplier defects.
  10. Works from blueprints, engineering specifications and production schedules.  Works also from verbal/written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Continuously maintains a clean work area.  Disposes of trash, production scrap and material drop-off.  Assists in cleaning common areas.

Customer Service Representative/Insides Sales

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Answers incoming calls and e-mails from distributors, field sales and end users and responds appropriately to questions regarding pricing, lead times, product, order status and tracking of shipments.  Primary contact for assigned accounts and processes. Inputs customer orders in ERP system. Participates in Product Training, Webinars and On Demand Training to gain product knowledge. Acts as liaison between the customer and various internal departments and contract manufacturers. Responds to expedite requests and customer complaints. Maintains close working relationship with distributors and sales managers. Maintains various Excel spreadsheets. Monitors various Epicor dashboards. Provides back up support for Receptionist when needed.  Provides pre-sales support and after sales assistance to all types of customers. Attends Daily Production Meeting and communicates order shipment status. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1.  Answers and documents all incoming calls. Responds appropriately to various questions and requests while maintaining a courteous and professional image on calls.  Promptly and efficiently corresponds via e-mail in a professional manner utilizing CPI e-mail guidelines.  Refers qualified end user leads to distributors and sales managers. 
  2. Responsible for providing availability and pricing for various customer types.  
  3. Verifies quote pricing, minimum order quantities and terms of order entry.  References quote numbers on sales orders.  Works with various CPI personnel, as well as distributors, to get expired quotes updated and new part numbers added to existing quotes. 
  4. Acquires application knowledge for all CPI products, including new products.  Develops and maintains knowledge base of end user applications.  Participates in product training and completes CPI On-Demand training test for each segment covered.  Organizes and maintains catalog and product information sheets for quick reference.  Forwards information regarding custom application requirements to technical support team.  Sends part number set-up requests to sustaining and custom product engineering team. 
  5. Develops and promotes strong partnership with assigned accounts and processes. In a back-up roll, performs all functions to secondary accounts.  Provides order entry assistance and support to other CSR’s, as required. 
  6.  Utilizes ERP system to process orders, including, custom part orders, order changes, order cancellations, credits, debits, stock rotations, expedite requests and complaints in accordance with ISO procedures, guidelines and work instructions.  Organizes and maintains distributor’s contact information. 
  7. Monitors Epicor dashboards and creates supporting reports via Excel. 
  8. Collaborates as necessary, with multi-site departments and domestic contract manufacturers, to expedite orders and resolve customer issues.  Documents customer complaints and follows up with Misc. Shipper/Replacement log for each registered entry. 
  9. Responsible for scheduling orders to provide the best lead-time and minimize freight cost.  Upon request, provides weights and dimensions. 
  10. Runs daily sales audit and verifies pricing and total accuracy of order.  Responsible for researching, writing and inputting of all credits and debits for assigned accounts.  
  11. Provides product data sheets via e-mail.  Assists customers with online e-catalog and configurator, as required.  Utilizes configurator for cabinet pricing. 
  12. Interfaces with multi-site shipping departments and domestic contract manufacturers to support freight optimization program. 
  13. Complies with company safety rules and regulations.  Reports accidents or near misses immediately to team leader or supervisor.  Takes a proactive approach to identify and eliminate safety hazards. Attends safety meetings and/or training programs.
