It is easy to install a Fan Kit (12480 or 12724 series) in CPI’s MegaFrame®, SlimFrame™, SteelFrame or Seismic Frame Cabinet Systems. These top-mounted fans install inside of the cabinet’s top panel and draw hot air out of the top of the cabinet. It takes only 5-10 minutes to install the Fan Kit in an empty cabinet. If your equipment is already mounted, you may want to remove some in order to make room at the top of the cabinet to perform the Fan Kit installation. Once the fans are in place, you can re-install the equipment and plug the fans into a power strip or a dedicated power source.
Select the 12480 series Fan Kit for MegaFrame, SlimFrame and Seismic Frame Cabinets. Use the 12724 series Fan Kit for the SteelFrame Cabinet. Both are available in either 115 or 230 VAC and provide 400 or 300 CFM respectively.
A bottom-mounted, filtered Fan Kit (12511 series) is also available. This product adds a slight static pressure inside the cabinet and forces air out the top while the filter removes up to 75% of airborne dust particles. The filtered fan may take slightly longer to install. If necessary, remove equipment at the bottom of the cabinet to provide 2 RMU of space for the fan and filter assembly. The filtered Fan Kit is also available in 115 or 230 VAC for 19” or 23” wide cabinets. One filter is included with the Fan Kit.
Each fan installation will have different requirements. Determine whether you need a fan with 15 or 20 amp, filtering or other necessities before ordering. Since this solution will provide fresh air to the entire cabinet, (or remove the accumulating heat in the top of the cabinet out) filler panels may not be necessary, but may assist in controlling the airflow.
