How to Improve the Overall Performance of Open Rack Systems

May 27, 2015

Rack EnclosureAs we’ve mentioned before, open racks continue to be a dependable solution in many computer rooms and data centers.

Chatsworth Products (CPI) provides a variety of products that complement the installation of your Two- or Four-Post Racks, thus truly enhancing the performance of your IT equipment.

Here are four ways to do so:

1. Manage cables like a pro.
CPI offers a wide range of cable management products to fit any budget. Velocity® Cable Manager, which create a complete pathway for premise cabling and patch cords, is an economical solution. Velocity features tool-less assembly, and includes single- and double-sided vertical cable managers that are available in four widths and three heights.

However, if you have a lot of cabling and patching in your rack, consider the Evolution® Vertical Cable Manager. Evolution is CPI’s deepest cable manager, ranging from 20 to 24 inches deep for a double-sided model. The extra depth allows you to neatly manage the bundles of cables that get routed, dressed and terminated to your patch panels. In addition, the extra depth will allow you to manage your network patch cables, which will save you time when doing moves, adds and changes.

2. Enclose your equipment with class and simplicity.
If you have an existing two-post rack full of cabling and equipment already installed, and now need to protect and enclose the equipment, consider using CPI's Single Rack Enclosure. Easy access for installation and maintenance is an integral part of the overall design, so the door, top or side panels can be removed in minutes.

3. Install a deep server or UPS in a Standard Two-Post Rack.
If your telecommunications room is not large enough to support an enclosed network cabinet for your deeper equipment (in most cases this is your servers and UPSes), consider using CPI's anyServer Bracket to provide a sturdy solution that will secure your equipment. The anyServer Bracket can be adjusted to fit all of your server’s requirements, enabling you to keep the same mounting system, even if you change equipment in the future.

4. Support your high-density cables.
If you're planning on installing a high-volume copper or fiber distribution system over several racks or more, consider using the High Density Patching Frame offered by CPI, as it features high-density cable management fins that provide an integrated vertical pathway for premise cabling and facilitate adherence to bend radius requirements.

Designed to maximize the support of patch panels, High Density Patching Frame enhance the value of your structural system with quality accessories that provide efficient results.
