CPI Receives Patent for Vertical Exhaust Duct Technology

July 21, 2015

Case-Study-BendBroadband.jpgChatsworth Products (CPI) was recently awarded another patent for its Vertical Exhaust Duct, a key component of its data center equipment cabinet lines.

The exhaust duct, which is mounted to the top of a cabinet, guides hot exhaust air from the cabinet to an overhead drop ceiling or ductwork to create a closed hot air return pathway to the cooling system. When combined with CPI’s additional airflow products, complete hot air isolation is achieved, which helps prevent equipment from overheating and allows the ability to significantly lower cooling costs.

First introduced in 2006 as CPI’s Passive Cooling® Solutions, CPI’s innovative airflow management techniques are so effective that customers find they can easily support heat densities up to 30 kW per cabinet without the need for additional CRAC units, in-row air conditioners or liquid cooling solutions. Because CPI Passive Cooling Solutions are so effective and have zero points of failure, many customers have achieved Uptime Institute’s Tier IV certification and LEED® Gold certification.

CPI’s Vertical Exhaust Duct is available on these CPI cabinets:
