CPI Helps BendBroadband Achieve First-Ever Tier III-Rated KyotoCooling Data Center in U.S.

June 27, 2011

If you hadn't noticed, the innovative data center cooling technique known as KyotoCooling® has been generating a lot of buzz in the United States lately - and for good reason. Not only is Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI) joining the State of Montana at the first-ever KyotoCooling Conference in the U.S. this October 25-26, 2011, we'll be presenting alongside another champion of this thermal management solution, Bob Mobach, RCDD-NTS and Practice Director of Data Center Infrastructure at US Logicalis, Inc.

Mr. Mobach's presence at the Montana conference is a direct result of his engineering work on another KyotoCooling-outfitted data center, the BendBroadband Vault facility located in Bend, Oregon. BendBroadband was recently awarded with the first-ever Tier III certification by the Uptime Institute for a KyotoCooling facility in the U.S. - an achievement that pairs nicely with the facility's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification as outlined by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

While we congratulate BendBroadband on this prestigious honor, we're also proud of the fact that the data center facility achieved certification while running at a whopping 37.5kW loadbank per cabinet (650kW overall) using the energy-wheel air exchange of KyotoCooling paired with CPI cabinets and CPI Passive Cooling® Solutions - namely, our Vertical Exhaust Ducts for enhanced hot air isolation at the cabinet level. The stunning glacier white cabinet design rounds out the energy-saving and aesthetic allure of this facility (seen below).

To understand why both solutions work so well in tandem, be sure to read this article.

Of course, with the recent announcement of BendBroadband's Tier III certification, we're even more excited to introduce you to the KyotoCooling facility that started it all here in the U.S., the State of Montana's official data center in the capital city of Helena.

CPI recently had the chance to visit both facilities, and we can't wait to share our detailed case studies with you. In the meantime, we're sure you'll join us in congratulating BendBroadband on their achievement, and better still, joining Mr. Mobach, CPI and the State of Montana as we show you why KyotoCooling is here to stay - and here to save you plenty in energy savings! Register to attend the KyotoCooling conference in Helena this October. Jeff Cihocki, eContent Specialist
