WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.—Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a 100% employee-owned leading manufacturer of structural support systems for technology equipment, has enhanced its popular MegaFrame cabinet line with the addition of new models, improved features and expanded versatility.
The introduction of CPI's MegaFrame line of cabinets in late 1997 set new industry standards in style and functionality. By offering more cable management space than any other cabinet, the MegaFrame quickly set itself apart from competing models.
Since their original introduction, CPI cabinets have continued to evolve, keeping pace with the changing needs of the industry. A narrow profile version, the C-Series SlimFrame™ Cabinet was developed to maximize valuable floor space while continuing to provide integrated cable management. The E-Series ISP Co-Location Cabinet, ideal for Internet Service Providers, combines unique compartmental storage solutions with CPI's reputation for quality.
Thermal Management is a hot topic as transistor density per chip, chip density per discrete equipment and server density per cabinet all conspire to produce more heat per square foot of computer room space. CPI has addressed this with the introduction of three new products: the ECS Enclosure Blower, a state-of-the-art cooling system developed in conjunction with Delphi Corporation, the leading manufacturer of cooling systems for automobiles; a high-flow perforated metal door featuring a 63% open perforation area; and the MegaFrame fan kit, which provides 400 CFM of cooling and is now UL Recognized.
Working in unison, the new products draw cool air from under a raised floor, creating a chimney of cold air that reduces cabinet hot spots up to 15 degrees.
Flexibility
For configuration flexibility, the MegaFrame Family is fully customizable. In addition to a large choice of heights, widths and depths, vendor-specific products are easily accommodated with specialty mounting rails. Rails for HP®, Sun® and IBM® products are now a part of the standard cabinet offering. All of CPI's rails follow EIA standards. The unique Patch Panel Auxiliary Mounting Rail offers 6 RMU of space for mounting patch panels regardless of the location of existing mounting rails, maximizing usable cabinet space.
Functionality is a key component of the MegaFrame Family. Reversible, easy-to-remove doors have been among the most popular features of the cabinet. Vertical mounting rails adjust easily from front to rear along the horizontal slide. The vertical cable manager, standard on all MegaFrame Family cabinets, features snap-on rings that can be positioned in innovative fashion along the manager for customized installations. The new easy-to-remove, locking side panel provides easy access to equipment in a fully loaded cabinet without compromising security. The MegaFrame, SlimFrame and Co-Location Cabinets all boast a 1,600 lb load rating, despite its mostly aluminum construction, which helps to minimize shipping costs.
Among the most important issues for cabinet owners today, the need for security is of prime importance to CPI. A new system of electronic locks is now available for the MegaFrame, SlimFrame, Co-Location, and Seismic Frame Cabinets. The simple, yet smart Digilock Electronic Keypad Lock is a wireless, cost-effective way to eliminate keys and provide up to 500 individual users with their own entry codes. Dirak Electronic Swinghandle Locks are more sophisticated solutions that allow locks to be monitored and operated from any location using a web browser. Both locking solutions have optional management software that provides audit trail retrieval and other detailed operations.
Innovative products and enhancements will continue to be added to the MegaFrame cabinet line. Refer to www.chatsworth.com for the latest information.
