CPI Plays Key Role in Mexico’s New Data Center Energy Efficiency Standard

July 16, 2014

Mexico

Chatsworth Products (CPI) played a key part in the development of Mexico’s newest standard for the design, construction and operation of energy efficient data centers in the country. The new requirement went into effect on July 15.

Experts in multiple specialties, from infrastructure engineers, to data center operators to consultants and architects collaborated in the development of NMX-J-C-I-489-ANCE-ONNCCE-NYCE-2014. (Detailed information in Spanish can be found here.)

CPI participated in discussions and assessments of cabinets and enclosures, racks, cable runways and power distribution units (PDUs). Representing CPI, Victor Bañuelos, Technical Manager for Latin America, was able to provide valuable insight into the new classification of energy-efficient data centers as they relate to availability, energy efficiency and sustainability not only in terms of their design and construction, but also in terms of their daily performance.

CPI’s pioneering solution—Passive Cooling®—plays a key role in energy-efficient data centers. For example, the standard dictates best practices in successfully achieving high energy efficiency in the data center through containment systems, such as cabinets with Vertical Exhaust Ducts, and Hot and Cold Aisle Containment Solutions (HAC and CAC). This new set of requirements applies to new construction as well as retrofit applications.

Our local CPI experts in Mexico can help you understand the design and implementation strategies of energy efficient data centers, while assisting you in selecting the products that will best fit your needs, including:

  • Build to Spec Kit HAC – A highly flexible and customizable solution that is ideal for retrofit and new applications.
  • CAC and HAC – Perfect for new constructions.
  • TeraFrame® and GlobalFrame® Cabinets – Compatible with any Passive Cooling strategy, these cabinets can include Vertical Exhaust Ducts and are adaptable to any design and configuration.
  • eConnect® PDUs – Intelligent PDUs distribute power to your equipment and come in a variety of configurations—Monitored, Monitored PRO, Switched and Switched PRO—to measure, monitor and report energy consumption at the cabinet level.
