Baking, Bowling and ESOP Spirit

November 23, 2010

BLOG-DESSERT-AUCTION-GT-NOV10.jpgFire up the oven, turn on the stove top, and prepare the ingredients - it's time to bake some goodies! With the holiday season in full swing (Happy Thanksgiving to our U.S. folks!), Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI) is already working hard to help raise funds for local charities, and this past November 19th recently marked our 3rd Annual Dessert Auction at the Georgetown, TX CPI location.

CPI's Sales & Marketing Training Manager, Michele Hammer (a licensed live auctioneer in the state of Texas) delivered a brilliant performance by auctioning off scrumptious homemade desserts contributed by CPI employees. Collectively, the event raised approximately $1,578, nearly 60% more than our 2009 total. We're pleased to report that 100% of the funds raised will be donated to The Caring Place and Breakfast with Santa, organizations that benefit and provide support for local families through holiday gifts for children and grocery store gift cards for meals.

BLOG-BOWLING-CH-NOV10.jpgAnother fun event attended by our California-based CPI employees was a special bowling outing with 6 other ESOP companies, including Kapco/Aero, helped create a social atmosphere for ESOP members of several companies to have fun, get to know each other better and celebrate ESOP culture. All of the companies involved donated raffle gifts and raised $300 to support the Employee Ownership Foundation. Attending employees from our Chatsworth location included Terry Martinez, Armando Escobedo, Steve Sarmiento, and Tony Escobedo, while CPI employees from our Westlake Village, CA location included Kalisa Coefield, Belle Pantanilla and Nancy Caraveo. While it took over 2.5 hours to brave the congested L.A. traffic, the event was well worth it!

While the holiday season is a great time to help out our respective local communities in California, Texas and North Carolina, the pride we take in employee ownership and its positive effect on the products we manufacture and the service we provide is truly a year-round and global effort. Lindsay Klein, Research, Development & Training Center Coordinator & Nancy Caraveo, Global Human Resources Manager
