Introducing CPI's New Line of KVM Drawers and Switches

November 23, 2011

At this point, many of us are familiar (if not a little irritated from time to time) with using a variety of physical gestures to interact with our personal computing devices. Yet for every pinch, zoom, tap, swipe and occasional gripe that we may have with our finger-tipped future, there's still a tried and true, device-oriented method of computing that works just fine, thank you very much.

CPI KVM SystemsWe're talking of course about the simple, yet highly efficient Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) model. And more importantly for those of us in the data center, the KVM Switch - used to control multiple computers from a single, shared set of peripherals. In its analog form, this control happens via local console. In its IP form, over a remote computer or network via CAT 5/6 cables.

Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI) provides both analog and IP KVM Switches, as well as Drawers, now available in four brand new configurations - all designed to streamline your needs (no software requirements!) and enhance your capacity for control down to the port level. These new configurations include:

  • 17" LCD KVM Drawer - featuring a 1U high single or dual rail, and US or UK keyboard layout for maximized global utilization.
  • Analog KVM Switches with DB15 Ports - featuring 16 ports total, 1 x local console for a single site, single user set-up, and available as standalone/expansion* or integrated with the LCD KVM Drawer. Makes an excellent solution for small and medium single-site facilities.
  • IP KVM Switches with DB15 Ports - featuring 16 ports, 1 x local console (and 1 x IP console) for a single site, single user set-up, and available standalone or integrated with the LCD KVM Drawer. Makes for an excellent solution for small and medium single-site facilities.
  • IP KVM Switches with CAT 5/6 Ports - featuring 16 or 32 ports, 1 x local console, 1 x remote console and 1 or 2 x IP consoles for a single site, multiple user set-up, and available as standalone/expansion*. Makes an excellent solution for IT staff that require both local and remote access to equipment.

*In an expansion format, KVM Switches with CAT 5/6 Ports will allow the user to cascade (or "daisy chain") up to 8 units, and in doing so, offer the ability to monitor up to 256 ports from a single peripheral.

Across the board, the strengthening of CPI's KVM Systems ensures that your total site solution is backed not only by the highest quality infrastructure storage equipment available, but supported by an array of value-added electronic devices to successfully manage and maintain your network.
