New Networked Electronic Access Control Enhances Cabinet Security, Reduces Costs

Chatsworth Products (CPI) recently introduced the Networked Electronic Access Control (EAC), an intelligent, networked locking solution for existing data center cabinets that replaces conventional locks in order to meet growing compliance demands regulations that require audit trails of access attempts.
How Does the Networked EAC Work?
Networked EAC’s intelligent lock provides remote monitoring of physical security and environment conditions of a cabinet through a user-friendly web interface. The Networked EAC provides remote front and rear lock control and keeps a record of each cabinet access attempt. The lock is equipped with a bi-color status LED that provides a visible notification of the latch status. Sensors in the lock generate output signals for remote access monitoring, and send notifications when conditions of the latch or door change.
Where Does the Savings Come In?
Through Secure Array™ IP Consolidation technology, up to 32 controllers (32 cabinets) can be networked under one IP address, providing significant savings in networking costs. Additional, integrated temperature/humidity sensors provide cabinet-level environmental monitoring.
The design of the Swinghandle also features an efficient microprocessor-controlled gear motor that ensures minimal power consumption and accommodates both left and right doors.
- Audit trail for regulatory compliance: The web interface keeps a record of every access attempt and integrates the information with DCIM for easy reporting.
- Preinstallation in CPI cabinets: The entire locking system can be shipped preinstalled within CPI Globalframe® and TeraFrame® Cabinets saving significant deployment time and costs.
- Deployment savings through Secure Array: Locks can be networked through Secure Array IP Consolidation, allowing up to 32 locks to be linked under a single IP address.
- Remote access control: Remotely program, monitor and control cabinet access through a user-friendly web interface. The slim form factor controller that enables remote management can easily be mounted within 0U locations.
- Smart card authentication: Proximity card reader recognizes existing employee 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz RFID cards including HID, iClass®, MIFARE® and DESFire technologies. Multifactor authentication is supported with the use of Zwipe® Access Card with biometric reading.
