Beijing Bans Data Centers with PUE Above 1.5

GT-SERIES GLOBALFRAME GEN2 CABINETData centers in Beijing must now operate with a power usage effectiveness (PUE) rate below 1.5, according to a recent report by Environment 360, a publication of Yale University. With most data centers in China operating with a PUE of 2.2, the new mandate is causing many companies to relocate.

The value of being “green” has clear environmental and financial reasons, and data centers across China are becoming aware of it, as the Cross-Connect blog reported here. More recently, Chatsworth Products’ (CPI) experts discussed the issue at the America Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
