WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., January 1, 2004—Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a 100% employee-owned leading manufacturer of structural support systems for technology equipment, has introduced a Retractable Stabilizer Kit for protection against cabinet tipping.
In environments where it is not possible (or desirable) to secure a cabinet to the floor, wall or other stable structure, there is a danger of cabinets tipping forward when heavy, slide-mounted equipment is extended in front. Traditional solutions typically include stabilizers that are permanently attached to the base of the cabinet and protrude into valuable aisle space. CPI’s new Retractable Stabilizer Kit provides superior protection when needed, but when maintaining cabinet stability is not a concern, the Kit conveniently slides underneath the cabinet, leaving aisles unobstructed and permitting the free flow of traffic.
The Retractable Stabilizer Kit is designed for CPI’s M-Series MegaFrameand C-Series SlimFrame Cabinet Systems. Anti-tip support is provided for servers up to 300 lb. For maximum safety, it is recommended that only one slide-mounted piece of equipment be extended at a time. Casters or leveling feet are required in order to support the weight of the cabinet so that the stabilizing arms slide freely.
The Stabilizer mounts to the bottom of the cabinet and does not interfere with rack-mounted equipment (such as CPI’s Delphi ECS Enclosure Blower, which mounts to RMU 2). Additionally, even when extended, the arms of the Retractable Stabilizer do not block perforated floor tiles that provide cool air to the fronts of cabinets.
Installing the Stabilizer is simple in cabinets that are not fully-loaded, therefore, it is recommended that the Stabilizer be used with new cabinet installations.
