As demand for colocation services grew, Xfernet needed to transform its Los Angeles facility into a high-density, energy-efficient colocation data center—without expanding its physical footprint or adding more air conditioning. With shallow raised floors, low ceilings, and rising rack power requirements, the challenge was achieving higher densities while maintaining ideal operating temperatures.
The solution was Chatsworth Products’ cabinet-level Vertical Exhaust Duct (VED) solution, which enabled Xfernet to double rack density to 4–5kW per cabinet and scale up to 30kW per cabinet—all while improving cooling efficiency and reducing costs.
