Product Description
Oberon® In-Plane™ Recessed Mounts 1440 are an economical cloud/canopy/suspended ceiling mounting kit for most vendors’ access points and antennas. A cutout is made in the ceiling panel, the panel bridge is placed above the ceiling panel, and the access point is attached to the white trim. The access point and trim assembly is then drawn into the panel bridge with a torsion spring, much like a recessed lighting fixture, with only the front face exposed for optimal wireless coverage. When the AP brand or model changes, the AP trim is easily swapped for new trim.
Key Features and Benefits
- Install and conceals APs and antennas from most vendors’ in cloud or canopy ceiling panels
- AP mounts flush to the ceiling, providing an aesthetic, professionally installed appearance
- Use with acoustical or thin metal ceiling panels
- .036” thick galvanized steel panel bridge and adjustable hanger wire prevent ceiling panel sag or cracking
- Easy to install, no loose hardware
Technical Specifications
- Design: Recessed installation kit for installing APs and antennas in cloud, canopy or suspended ceiling panels. AP mounts in interchangeable bracket and trim, providing a professional finish. Designed for all leading vendors’ APs, as identified in Oberon’s Model 1440 configuration guide
- AP/antenna trim is interchangeable for other APs or antennas. Trim attaches with torsion springs; use with standard lay-in or tegular ceiling tiles or thin metal ceiling panels between .03" and 1" thick (0.7 to 25 mm thick)
- Model 1440-ANTMNT only: White powder coated steel antenna mounting plate has a central punch for antennas with up to 1” diameter center post mounting
- Adjustable hanger wire to support enclosure and installed equipment independent of the ceiling system
- Construction: .036” thick galvanized steel panel bridge, white powder coated steel trims
- Size: 22.87 x 18 x 3.5 in. (580 x 457 x 90 mm). ). Cover: 16.9 in. x 16.9 in. (429 mm x 429 mm)
- Suitable for both North American and European (metric) ceilings, acoustical tile or thin metal panel, .03" to 1" thick (0.7 to 25 mm).

Key Features of the 1440 Recessed Mount System
The Oberon® In-Plane™ 1440 recessed mount provides a clean, flush‑mount solution for wireless access points in data‑center ceilings. By using a torsion‑spring mechanism, the mount secures the AP while exposing only the front face for optimal signal propagation. This design makes the product a leading choice among Oberon mounts for modern network environments. Installation requires a simple cutout in a ceiling panel, after which the galvanized steel panel bridge is positioned and the hanger wires are attached. The recessed mounted configuration draws the AP and trim into the bridge, eliminating any protruding hardware that could interfere with airflow. The process is fast and requires no loose fasteners, reducing labor time for technicians. The 1440 system supports a wide range of AP models from vendors such as Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, and Ruckus, making it a versatile solution for AP mounts across heterogeneous networks. The interchangeable trim adapters allow quick swaps when equipment is upgraded, ensuring the mount remains compatible with future devices. This flexibility aligns with the EN 1440 standard for ceiling‑mount hardware, providing consistency in North American and European installations. Concealing the antenna and AP improves aesthetics while preserving wireless coverage, helping facilities achieve higher density without sacrificing performance. The .036‑inch galvanized steel bridge distributes load evenly, preventing panel sag and maintaining structural integrity. These benefits reduce maintenance cycles and support the rigorous uptime requirements of hyperscale and edge data centers.
