Product Description
The Model 1443 In-Plane™ series offer the simplest way to mount APs and antennas from most leading vendors into new construction hard (drywall/sheetrock) ceilings up to 1.5 in. thick, for an aesthetic, professional installation. The back-box is fastened to the ceiling joists before drywall is installed, and the new ceiling is cut around the box. When construction is complete, the access point either fastens to the appropriate trim, and the trim attaches to the back-box with torsion springs, or the AP fastens within the backbox onto an included mounting bracket or T-bar bracket and the cover attaches to the back-box with torsion springs and conceals the AP. The AP is recessed into the ceiling much like a recessed light fixture with only the front face exposed for optimal wireless coverage. The AP or antenna trim is easily swapped when AP or antenna model changes.
Key Features and Benefits
- Install and conceal APs and antennas from most vendors into new construction hard ceiling environments
- AP and antennas mount flush to the ceiling, providing an aesthetic, professionally installed appearance
- Easy to install, no loose hardware

Aesthetic and Secure Wireless Access Point Installation
The Oberon In-Plane™ Recessed Mounts 1443 series deliver a streamlined solution for integrating wireless access points and antennas into hard ceilings. These Oberon wireless enclosures ensure a flush, professional appearance that blends seamlessly with modern architectural designs. By recessing equipment like a light fixture, they optimize wireless coverage while maintaining aesthetic integrity.
Installation is straightforward with adjustable mounting brackets that secure to ceiling joists during new construction. The back-box fills openings to act as a fire, smoke, and dust barrier, simplifying ICRA compliance. Oberon mounts feature torsion spring attachments for easy cover swaps, allowing quick updates when AP models change without removing the enclosure.
Compatibility spans leading vendors including Aruba, Cisco, and Extreme, with interchangeable trims for various AP and antenna models. Each Oberon enclosure includes a firestop grommet for up to two Cat6A cables, supporting efficient cable management. This flexibility makes Oberon wireless solutions ideal for diverse environments from enterprise networks to edge data centers.
Safety and performance are upheld through UL 2416 listing and design adherence to NEC 300-22 and 300-23 for plenum installations. Constructed from 16-gauge aluminum and steel or ABS plastic, these enclosures de-rate AP operating temperatures by 8 degrees Celsius when mounted inside. Oberon enclosures are made in the USA, ensuring reliable quality and support.
Overall, the Model 1443 series enhances wireless infrastructure with durable, code-compliant designs that protect investments. Oberon mounts facilitate future-ready deployments, accommodating technology upgrades with minimal effort. This approach aligns with CPI's commitment to delivering innovative, customizable solutions for evolving communication needs.
